I have heard that PSECU (Penn State Employees Credit Union) is a good bank to save money in. Has anyone personally been a member of this institution to share their experience?
I'm not personally a member, but just looked at their rates and they are extremely low. You're not going to make any money there.

Look into Alliant Credit Union out of Chicago. It's online but their rates and benefits are good.

Alliant is a credit union that was originally started by American Airlines for their employees and is based in Chicago. Also look into Ally Bank, it is a great online bank as well.
What is so great about these mentioned credit unions?
Terry C., credit union interest rates are better than commercial banks and are owned by the members. Many of them were originally set up to service government and municipal employees. The credit union I am a member of in my state has over 2000 branches and ATM's throughout the state. I became familiar with Alliant when I started bank rates information when I was looking for a mortgage and a low interest rate credit card, but there are many more and because they are online they offer some of the same perks you get with a commercial bank in your neighborhood.
