As little or as much as you want. If you just want to make around $20 or so each month, just use the completely passive stuff. If you want to make double or triple that, do the surveys. I have a wife, 1 year old, and 8 year old, so I don't have tons of time to devote to these, but I've made over 700 in the past 5 months, just using these apps. It's really easy once you get into it. No purchases are necessary at all unless you do some cash back offers, but the cash back compensates for what you paid in the majority of the time. Inbox Dollars is an example of this. If I'm not getting more than what I put in back, I don't do the offer.
