This isn't exactly a side hustle, but if you're old enough, join the AARP. It only costs $12/year. Swagbucks actually paid me $3 to join a couple years ago, but they (or one of their other companies–InBox Dollars and MyPoints) usually offer some kind of discount. AARP has a ton of activities, like educational and exercise videos (some of which are quite helpful!), that you can watch. You earn points when you complete an activity, which you can use to buy up to 3 gift cards per month. They also have sweepstakes and instant wins for great prizes. Sometimes there aren't any GCs that I can use, so I buy them and trade them for cash or Amazon GCs on CardCash or Raise or give them to my kids as gifts, which saves a little money on Xmas presents (I had Apple, GameStop, & Google Play GCs). Since my husband got a free membership when I joined, we can usually get 6 free $10+ GCs/month! I've also won several instant wins and even gotten $25 GCs for Hulu, Showtime, and Starz. You don't even have to join to participate, but you earn more points if you're a member, and you have access to some of the prizes that non-members don't. They also offer a ton of discounted GCs for purchase. So if you need to get something at Lowe's, Barnes & Noble, Kroger, restaurants, etc., you can save a few dollars by paying for a GC through AARP. AARP also offers a discount prescription program, similar to GoodRx, which is free to members and their families, as well as discounts to businesses in your area.

If you have free access to newspapers, people still post for help with simple tasks in the classifieds for all sorts of things, (I live in the city, so there are A LOT of people, hence a lot more opportunity for these types of opportunities.) I've mowed lawns, assembled bookshelves, walked dogs, sat in an art class as a model, (fully clothed–promise), polished silver spoons, I went through a coin colllection and separated them for one lady…. a lot of small, 1-2 hour tasks near my area I'd get $30 or so for. Craigslist and Task Rabbit are also great for this. Just be careful to not put yourself in a dangerous situation, (i.e. if I'm by myself, I find that it's usually best to avoid anything in which involves going into the person's home.)
Best of luck!

Mystery Shops are a great side hustle but depending on which you select your expenses could outweigh your earnings. I do grocery shops which means I do to shop as a part of my bi-weekly grocery trip and any spending requirements are a part of my monthly budget, which means I earn the amount paid for the shop and receive a few dollars back on my grocery spending. Generally net about $125 a month which go into my sinking fund account.

Great suggestion! I've never mystery shopped, but I've always wondered how to get into it.

How do you get started with Mystery Shopping? Is there a website you can direct us to? Thanks!
