I’m going to have to try some of these ideas!!!

What a critical time to save, I find I’m that I come out of the other side better off when I execute a savings plan.Good ideas folks!

I have been taking out cash and doing cash envelopes for my daily spending and leaving my cards at home. For me, it helps to see the cash leave my hand otherwise I just keep swiping my card and not really tracking what I’m spending.

One thing that has helped me a great deal is setting up on my bank app for a set amount of money to be transferred from checking to saving every two weeks. That way, I never “see” the money and don’t have to remember to “move” it from account to account myself. Also, if I come into any extra money (stimulus check, tax refund, money from holding a garage sale, etc), I automatically put that into savings rather than checking.

Great ideas so which one can we commit to and when can we start?

A good savings challenge would be a no-spend challenge where we are rewarded for however long we go without spending ANY money

A few years ago, I tried the 52-week savings plan. You save $1 week 1, $2 week 2, $3 week 3 and so on! By the end of 52 weeks, you would have saved $1,378 in a year! I'm planning on starting it again beginning the first week in August.

We've taking our change from anything spent everyday and saving it in jars

Being able to link more than 1 bank account would be great

I also like the idea to saving according to our income.

A good savings challenge would be to keep track of what we spend our money for a week and then figure out where you can save some money on and invest this money instead.

I just wish the savings challenge would actually work right it doesn’t ever record any of my deposits

i think the best way to start saving would be to look over all your bills and get rid of things that are not necessity’s and then look at what you have left and see if you could lower the bills you have left do really just sum up what you can that’s a good start

Let's get even more creative, as you set up your monthly budget challenge yourself not to spend the entire amount, but find ways to save some of what you have budgeted. A $2 or $3 a day (according to the month) savings challenge would be great. Using the $3 for example over the year your would save an extra $1095 and put 1/2 or all of it in your long term emergency fund at the end of the year.

A saving challenge idea would be one that is linked to a New Year Financial Resolution. Participants could pick what amount over the course of the year they would like to save and what the $ is for. SaverLife could send reminders throughout the year as well as progress toward the goal. Anyone who reaches their goal wins some additional money.
