Save $x each week for 52 weeks (1 year). Have a specially designated account for savings from this challenge or a special envelop if you are saving cash. Start week one by saving $1. Week 2, save $2. Week 3, save $3 and so on until you reach 52. By the end of the challenge, if my math serves me correctly, you should have $1,378 saved. Not a bad emergency fund built in just a year’s time. Remember to resist dipping into the savings before the 52 weeks are up.

Nice idea for creating an emergency fund. The household budget impact may be lessened with it being spread out over a year's time.

Great idea! This is a fun way to save an emergency fund and a chance to win 10 million every week.

Are you able to be selected again for 500 or 1200?

How/where do you save the money so you don't just use it?

I've had luck saving money to a separate account (specifically savings versus checking). I will probably try this 52 week challenge (or suggest it to my partner). I usually set up my direct deposit from work to send a certain amount to my savings, but sometimes it's hard to work up to that.

I did the penny challenge this year, but I like this idea much better. Since my budget is tight it has gotten harder as the year has gone on to save the proper amount each month for the penny challenge.
