Any tips on how to save up for some extra Christmas cash?

At my job we get two big checks and a little check based on our pay periods so I based my budget on my little check and use only that amount per check and stash away anything left over into my savings

My tip is to start in January. If you plan to spend $220 then divide that amount by 11 months (or less if you like to do your shopping early). This way you have a much more manageable amount to save each month. In this example you would need to save just $20 per month from January to November to have the $220 you need for Christmas in December.

Have you tried just setting a side a little something extra into a Saving acct that you do not touch for the year until it is time to do your XMAS shopping? Even if you had $5/$10 directly taken out of your pay check and deposited into say "Christmas acct."

Just save anything you can $5 -$10 will go a long way. This year i finally started in January and it has helped. Next year I fully intend to take a portion of my taxes to start my Christmas fund.

I try to put aside every $5 bill I get back in change.

The idea of starting in January and continuously saving a small amount through the year is resonating with me. I'll give that a shot.

I divide my spending amount by 11 and put it into a savings account each month. Some years we've funded it from our tax refund.

When buying online use the plugin, ebates. It gives you cash back (they send a check to your house quarterly). I don't know how it is worth it for them/the stores, but sometimes they even give 15% back on your purchase. They also tell you when another store has something cheaper. If you use my referral code you automatically get $40.
