Medicaid is a program jointly funded by the federal government and the states to provide health insurance coverage to low-income Americans. Medicaid eligibility is determined based on income level, and adults, children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities all can become Medicaid recipients.

If you qualify for Medicaid, you will be able to access health coverage at low or no cost. Depending on your state, you can apply through your state Medicaid office, or through the health insurance Marketplace. To learn more about how to apply through the Marketplace, check out this resource: https://www.saverlife.org/money-101/where-do-you-apply-for-a-marketplace-plan

Medicaid is a government (Free)sponsored healthcare plan offered to the public. Mostly low income families including women and children. A man can also receive Medicaid if he meets the income guidelines and other qualifications.

I think all Doctor visits, Medicines, everything medically needed should be FREE of any & all charges regardless of Age.

All medical cost being free would be nice, but that is not the world we live in and those providing the service have to be paid as well. Doctors provide a service and their staff has to be paid; medicines are produced by a manufacturer and people work within that factory. Medicine like everything else we need is part of the economic world of goods and services and those providing it have to be paid. Healthcare should be accessible and provided in such a manner that everyone can afford it no matter the age, no matter if its Medicaid, affordable healthcare or Medicare.

I heard they can take possession of your estate at death when there is a balance owed.

Correct Justin. Almost everyone who goes on Medicaid is going to owe a balance at end-of-life after they receive care and few will be able to pay it back (given that they qualified for Medicaid in the first place) so estate seizure is fairly common. There are some things people can do if they plan far enough in advance and I would recommend everyone do some research now, even if you are still "young" or do not own a house.

That's fine. Or you could go to https://www.ssa.gov and read the FAQs for general info on Medicaid and disability in addition to your state's website on Medicaid eligibility.

It cant hurt to apply if you need it. Times have been tough and if you need medical care you should apply. I know some states will pay past due medical Bill's even if you aren't eligible for regular medicare.

Go to your local state site or do a Google search which will take you to the state government site. Or go to your local social services office.
