My personal feeling is debt consolidation is the worst trap that you can get into it try to avoid this

it's hard to fix my debt I ran up as a kid

I completely understand because I have done the same. The amount of debt can be overwhelming but I have found that taking one area of debt at a time is helpful. I am now getting into side hustles to pay down debt.

I desperately need help, I feel like I'm physically drowning

@Haley H.

Take it one step at a time.

1-create a budget so you know what you are spending and how much you can put toward debt
2-prioritize your debt either smallest balance to largest balance or highest interest rate to lowest interest rate
3-try to save a little while you pay down debt, that way you won't go further into debt if you have an emergency
4-start at the top; pay the minimum on every bill except the one at the top; on that bill, pay the minimum plus whatever extra money you can scrape up to attack that debt
5-once you have paid off the one at the top, have a little celebration!
6-then, take EVERY PENNY that you were paying to the first debt and apply it to the next debt on the list; that's the minimum payment PLUS what you were paying on the first debt
7-watch as your debt starts to disappear; slowly at first, but then it will gain momentum

I paid off over $15,000 of debt in three years using this method.

Already have two loans in repayment. But I have consumer credit with insane APRs…I'm not excited about the prospect, but I am considering another loan because the interest is nullifying about 1/3 of my payments. I do not trust debt consolidation companies, and would rather take on another loan than have some sketchy company ruin my credit more.

It’s a grind. I honestly think what they can charge for interest is criminal. Like absolute usury.

I was finally getting my credit score back on track & became homeless for a few months & now all my credit card accounts are closed & my credit is $@!#%!

K

Katharina R.

I pay everything on time, but only the minimum balance due, so my credit score never goes up. I sell everything I don't need around the house to get a few dollars more to help with payments, but it's not enough. ugh

I am slowly but surely depleting my debt. Even a little towards it is better than nothing

I’ve tried 100s of times where I try to dispute my charges that I didn’t do , but still there’s no change.

Be consistent with the payments. Try to pay extra when possible, even if its only a few dollars, it will help.

I am currently in a chapter 13. Covid has hit me extremely hard and I am now 4 months behind on my payments. I don't know what to do as they offer no solutions for making less income. They do not care they still want excact payments.
