Has anyone ever had their identity stolen ? How long did it take to get it all straightened back out? Was there anything you were left stuck with that you couldnt have removed from your credit because of it?

I’ve had my phone pin hacked so certain info was stolen but I found out pretty early on so was able to stop most of it. As long as you freeze your credit reports you should be fine just protect your social security number and that everything else doesn’t matter as much. And file reports with all of the agencies it’s work but only way to protect yourself if something does get put in your name

I did. I found out that a old friend of my parents was using my name and I was being accused of the things that she had done and the debt that she had acquired while doing this. I literally had to file a police report to prove that it wasn't me that they was looking for and I had to show proof of my original birth certificate and social security card in order for them to believe that I was that person. And the only thing that really proved that it wasn't me was our birthdays or the year I was born wasn't the same and she was 30 years older than me. It took a while but I got it straightened out. I had to get a new social security card

That would be so frustrating to deal with. I just had my Netflix account hack. Someone changed the password first and then the email. So I was paying Netflix for someone else, my debit card was registered to pay automatically.

I am experiencing that now with a line of credit show up on my credit report. Since none of the information matches mine I'm having to prove to the bank that its not me. The easiest way is to write a dispute letter to each of the credit bureaus and they contact the company and prove its your account. As for identity thief, I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase LifeLock after this, I saw my credit score drop 15 points in that one hit overnight.

I haven't had my identity stolen, but I did have my credit card and bank card hacked and had to get new cards.
